Beatriz Grando works as an International Independent Consultant for Grando & Asociados, Consultores Gerenciales in Panamá. She worked as an advisor for the VI Conference of REDCAMIF on Microfinance, as well as the external advisor, Cámara de Aseguradores de Venezuela, for Microinsurance Project with CAV-FIDES-BID, and Microfinance and Development of PyMES.

An alumna of Iowa State, Beatriz graduated with a bachelor’s degree in both Agricultural Business and Public Service Administration. She also holds a master’s degree in Education from Leslie University. She is the author of the upcoming book: Distribution Channels for Micro & Massive Insurance (2017).

Beatriz retired from the Central Bank of Venezuela, after 15 years, as Deputy Manager Financial Market Analysis and now uses her expertise as an Independent Consultant to helppoor populations in Central and South America, and other poor populations worldwide, access financing and insurance products. She is committed to this mission because of her own humble upbringing and her determination to make a difference and improve lives with her knowledge. She believes she had the opportunity to study and learn and her knowledge, if shared with others, will help them improve their lives. Her goals are to continue to research and educate in the area of microfinance and insurance to the empowerment of women, and to start an organization to support the many abandoned elder persons in Central and South America in need of support.

Beatriz sees her dedication and very open and tolerant views on all cultures as her own keys to success and she is most proud of how she has helped to educate others to improve their lives. She is also proud of mentoring others and looks forward to continuing to mentor young women.

In her spare time she enjoys reading, researching financial inclusion, keeping up with international affairs, writing, cooking and making clothes.
