Worldwide Association of Notable Alumni Recognizes Yair Mendelowitsch, MBA
Yair Mendelowitsch is a technology wizard, and holds the title of Senior Chips & Modules Product Manager in the Telecom & Hi-Tech Industry. In this role, he launches new products, performs product pricing and positioning strategies, and scopes and prioritizes activities based on business and users impact. He is the developer of the Liperator- a computerized device that mimics lips speaking so deaf people can lip-read a phone conversation. This project was a huge accomplishment for he and his counterpart Robert P. Slager, who got the idea after losing his own hearing. In addition, Yair performed a research on a hearing aid device that provides a solution to the Cocktail Party effect problem.
He has always liked electronics and computers and is naturally adept at building electronics. Yair holds 2 Masters Degrees: a MBA in Marketing from Heriot-Watt University graduating in 2009, as well as a MSEE in Digital Signal Processing, Communication and Control in 1991 from Western Michigan University. He is the recipient of Outstanding Product Management Engagement CMBU from AudioCodes, and is an IEEE Senior member since 1999.
Yair was the recipient of the Graduate Research & Creative Scholar Award from Western Michigan University (1992), and also received the John Hopkins Honorable Mention Award for helping disabled people, for his work on the Liperator project (1991). The Liperator, a computerized device, attaches to a telephone and uses speech conversation over the phone to generate realistic Lip movements on a Video screen, enabling someone with hearing impairment to Lip-read their phone conversation. This device also received semi-finalist in the History Channel's Modern Marvels Invent now Challenge (2006).
In his spare time, he enjoys movies, theater, reading and bicycle riding. He resides in Givatayim, Israel.
