Robert Drake is the owner of Aviation Accident Investigation and Consulting LLC, an independent safety and investigatory firm comprised of experts whose combined experience totals over 90 years of aviation and 50 years of aircraft accident investigation and extensive law enforcement experience. The team, led by Robert, has participated as FAA Investigator-in-Charge (IIC) and technical advisor to the US Accredited Representative, in the investigation of numerous high profile accidents worldwide and can offer in-depth analysis of aircraft wreckage, flight recorder data and radar data. He also provides expert witness testimony and can custom tailor and implement flight safety and security programs for business corporate and commercial aviation.

A proud member of the US Navy, Robert earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Louisville. He then proceeded to complete a Master of Science in Aeronautical Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School. He has expertise in crisis management, emergency response, incident/accident investigation, safety evaluations and compliance audits, as well as current aviation safety information via public forums.

Prior to founding Aviation Investigation and Consulting LLC, Robert served for more than 12 years as Team Lead and Senior Air Safety Investigator for the Federal Aviation Administration. He is a member of the International Society of Air Safety Investigators (ISASI), General Aviation Air Safety Investigators (GAASI), and a Senior Member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). He has given lectures at News Max TV and the Lions Club.

A resident of Manassas, Virginia, Robert attributes his success to determination and perseverance. Outside of running his company, he enjoys scuba diving, shooting and reading.
