Worldwide Association of Notable Alumni Recognizes Professor Dr. Wilson Catapani
Dr. Wilson Catapani is a physician with experience in trial design, clinical research and teaching, working mainly in the fields of intestinal diseases with a special interest in inflammatory bowel diseases and irritable bowel syndrome. Dr. Catapani is also a Professor and Head of Gastroenterology Department/ Postgraduate course Advisor in Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine of ABC Foundation. He has served as the President of the Ethics Committee of the institution. He is fluent in Portuguese and English, and can also understand well and speak in a basic level the Spanish language.
After studying medicine in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Dr. Wilson decided to stay on and do his Master and Doctoral training there as well, at the Federal University of São Paulo. Afterward, he trained in Edinburgh, supervised by the late Professor Anne Ferguson. Back in Brazil this training was very important in helping him to achieve the position of Full Professor of Gastroenterology at the University. He is affiliated with The Society of Mucosal Immunology, the American College of Gastroenterology and the European Crohn's Colitis Foundation - ECCO. In his spare time, he enjoys reading and music , and his home in the mountains. He resides in Santo André, in the outskirts of São Paulo, Brazil.
