Worldwide Association of Notable Alumni Recognizes Dinah Crayton, JD, EdD
Dr. Dinah Crayton is an Attorney with 30 years of experience in law and has been practicing since 1987. She is currently licensed to practice law in Wisconsin. She is also the owner of Crayton Communications and Ghost Writing Services, and is a Human Resources Management and Diversity consultant with Crayton Consultant, LLC. As an attorney, her practice areas consist of employment law, civil rights litigation, criminal law, worker’s compensation, and social security law. As a Human Resources Management and Diversity Consultant, she provides consultation and training in areas of human resources development, management techniques, conflict resolution, team development and diversity training. In her Communications business, she offers her clients communications training and public speaking development, as well as superior ghostwriting services.
Her employment has also included serving as an Administrative Law Judge with the Illinois State Labor Relations Board, an Assistant State Attorney in Racine, Wisconsin, an associate in a law firm in Milwaukee, a partner in a law firm in Racine, Wisconsin, an attorney Guardian ad Litem, and owner and chief operating officer of her own law firm. In addition to her educational endeavors and her vast employment experience, both she and her husband, Hulon Crayton, M.D., endowed two scholarship at the University of Florida-Panama City Campus (FSU-PCC_ and at Lincoln University in Missouri, and they have also funded arts and theater programs in their community.
After earning a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts (Psychology) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Dinah was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Army out of the Reserved Officer Training Corps. She served in the Army as an active duty officer, as well as in the Reserves where she received an honorable discharge in 1993 with the rank of Captain. She has a Master of Arts degree in Psychology, Guidance, and Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado and a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School. In June 2016, she completed a Doctor of Education degree in Organizational Leadership from Argosy University, where she was a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
Dr. Crayton has exemplified a lifetime of leadership and service, beginning with the military, where she achieved the rank of Captain and functioned as a the personnel manager of a separate Signal Brigade in Korea, a Company Commander, and a Platoon Leader. In 2005, she became a licensed Baptist minister. Dedicated to conflict resolution and justice, she is the First Vice-President of the NAACP in Bay County, is a member of several organizations ranging from the League of Women Voters, Democratic Woman’s Club, to the General Federation of Woman’s Club of Panama City. She is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, the Wisconsin Bar Association, the National Council of Negro Women and other civic and professional organizations.
Based in Panama City, Florida, Dr. Crayton continues her extensive community outreaches and volunteer work. She is the proud mother three children. Her oldest son is working on his MBA and owns a film and a music studio in Kansas City, Missouri where he is continuing his father’s musical legacy and will be releasing his last two CDs posthumously through his recording studio and a major distribution company, to which he is affiliated. Her second oldest and only daughter is in medical school and her youngest son attends FSU-PCC. Outside of her professional endeavors, Dr. Crayton is an avid reader and aspires, among other things, to be a published author, and a politician. She currently possesses a blue belt in Tae Kwon Do and enjoys bowling, painting, and going to the gym.
