Brian L. James is the General Manager of Industry Services at MIC Institute of Technology, an agency of the Ministry of Education that was established in 1974 as a joint venture of the Government of Trinidad and Tobago, the United Nations, and a number of private local industries. Brian has been an integral part of the Institute for more than 30 years of which he has gained wide ranging experience in management and engineering, now leading the charge in industrial commercial activities, innovation and enterprise development.

 After earning a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Management from Athabasca University, Brian went on to complete a Master of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Trinidad and Tobago. Brian is currently pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration degree from Edinburgh Napier University, conducting research in the area of incubation as an economic development tool for fostering the growth of nascent entrepreneurs.

 In addition to his responsibilities at MIC Institute of Technology, he was elected for 4 years as the regional Focal Point representative for fifteen Caribbean island states under the Global Environment Facility (GEF) facilitating Non-Governmental organizational matters in Climate Change, Biodiversity, Persistent Organic Pollutants, Land Degradation, International Waters and Sustainable Forest Management.

 Brian has served as the Vice President and President for the Caribbean Forest Conservation Association for 15 years.  He is an avid environmentalist and sits on the executive of various environmental NGO’s that advocates for the sustainable use of forest reserves and conservation.
