William Scarborough is the Vice President and General Counsel of the Project Management Institute (PMI). Prior to PMI, he was a partner in the Philadelphia law firm of Stradley, Ronon, Stevens & Young. Some of his responsibilities at PMI include legal and compliance work, legal contracts and managing international subsidiaries.

One of the main components to William’s professional success has been motivation; he considers it to be the key to maintain doing the right thing. One highlight of his career was being featured in ASAE magazine last April for his career successes. William’s work has been published numerous times in ASAE magazine as well as PMI's monthly magazine. 

William earned his Juris Doctor from Duke University, and a BA in Political Science with Honors from Dickinson College. He also attended Dickinson’s program in Bologna Italy his junior year.

He is affiliated with the ASAE, and currently serves on the Legal Section Council. He was Ethics Committee Chair in 2013. He is also a Member of the American National Standards Institute’s  Intellectual Property Rights Policy Committee, the  Association of Corporate Counsel, and the American Bar Association. He currently resides in Swarthmore, PA, where he can be found reading and running in his spare time.
