Worldwide Association of Notable Alumni Recognizes Tony Saitta
Antonio “Tony” Saitta is a Canadian Engineer and expert in the pulp and paper industry. Currently, he serves as the Vice President of Projects for Pöyry (Montreal) Inc., an international engineering and consulting firm that serves the pulp, paper, wood products, chemicals and energy industries, as well as other utilities. Operating in 49 countries and comprised of over 6,000 experts, Pöyry performs at industry’s top safety standard across the energy, industry and infrastructure sectors. Having been with Pöyry for over 12 years (serving in the Montreal, Quebec and Appleton, Wisconsin offices), Tony was recently promoted into his new role and oversees that projects are executed efficiently, on schedule, on budget and with top quality. He also continues to consult and calls upon over 27 years of experience in industrial design and construction to lead his team.
After earning a Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering from McGill University in 1987, Tony launched his career as a Project Engineer with NLK Consultants Inc., where he served for over a decade. Prior to joining Pöyry, Tony also worked as a Project Engineer for Bowater Mersey Paper Co. in Nova Scotia. Highlights from his distinguished career thus far also include involvement in the Biomass Cogeneration Facility design and installation for Wisconsin Electric in Rothschild, Wisconsin, serving as the project manager in Wisconsin for 6 years before returning to Canada to continue his profession. In Rothschild, Tony served as Project Manager for the We Energies Rothschild Biomass Cogeneration Plant, a project that required hundreds of construction workers. Since its inception, the plant has become renowned not just for its 50-MW biomass cogeneration, but also for the seamless and fruitful partnership between We Energies, Domtar, Pöyry and the general contractor.
Tony now resides in Vaudreuil, Quebec, Canada, and speaks fluent English, French and Italian. He is a member of the Ordre des Ingenieurs du Quebec and the Association of Professional Engineers of Nova Scotia. Best known by his peers for the honest work ethic and a track record of excellent results. When not attending to the needs of his clients, Tony enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf and hockey, and is an avid reader.
