Ronald Ho is the Chairman of Ascent Partners Group Limited.  He started his laudable career in finance after graduating from McMaster University with a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry.  One of Ronald's professors suggested that he take a course in accounting, which he found a natural aptitude for, and switched majors to eventually graduate with a Master of Business Administration specializing in Finance and Accounting.

Ronald is known for working very hard during his entire career. He holds his MBA in Finance and Accounting and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from McMaster University. He is a member of the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce, Hong Kong Institute of Directors, Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, Fellow of The Hong Kong Institute of Certified Accountants,  The Rotary Club and has been on the Audit Committee, Remuneration Committee and the Supervisory Board of the Hong Kong Housing Society .

Ronald worked for Ernst & Young, one of the big four accounting firms and became a Partner in 1981 and a Senior Partner in 1996. He specialized in Assurance, Investigation, and Forensic Accounting. Ronald was also Ernst & Young's Director of Accounting and Auditing, Director of Personnel, and Professional Development, as well as The Chairman of the Mutual Funds and Unit Trusts Practice as well as The Chairman of the Japanese Practice until retiring in 2002.

Ronald is now, after mandatory retirement from Ernst & Young, the Chairman of Ascent Partners Group Limited, established in Hong Kong in 2008, which is a leading provider of transaction advisory and asset management services.  Dealing with a wide range of independent valuation including Business Valuation, Valuation of Financial Instruments  (Note IFRS9 will be mandatory in less than 2 years), ESG Reporting and advisory services, with a specific interest in  Mergers and Acquisition and IPO. Ascent Partners just Co-published the Hong Kong IPO Guide for 2016. They have also the IPO Guide for 2014 and 2015.

He is qualified as a Chartered Accountant (CPA, CA) (Canadian Institutes of Chartered Accountants - CICA) and a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FCPA & FHKICPA) since 1974 and 1977 respectively. He met the extra strict and demanding requirements of the Continued Professional Development program of both the HKICPA and CICA in order to renew his Practicing Certificates every year.

Three of Ronald’s major attributes are his extensive professional expertise, hard work, and integrity that have propelled him into success in his field. Commercial fraud and commercial crime were Ronald’s main areas of investigation and he maintained a high degree of integrity. Integrity is also extremely important in the Assurance sector, Valuation Sector, ESG Sector, Transaction Advisory Services Sector, for example, Mergers and Acquisitions and IPOs. Temptations and lures were always there as inevitable traps when he performed work on companies which governance was tainted significantly.

In his spare time, Ronald enjoys being around the water, either scuba diving and fishing. He resides in the thriving city of Hong Kong, China.
