For 26 years prior to Koorosh founding his law firm, he worked for the Iran-United States Claims Tribunal, initially as legal advisor and soon later as arbitrator. With the Tribunal, Koorosh served as arbitrator in more than 100 cases of treaty disputes between states as well as treaty-based cases of expropriation of foreign investments and property rights, state contracts, construction and commercial contracts between US national and Iran. In the same period he also served as arbitrator in major ICC and ad hoc UNICTRAL arbitration cases. His cases in particular covered defense, petroleum, telecommunication, housing insurance and banking industries.
Koorosh was a member of the steering committee for the Permanent Court of Arbitration for revitalization of its rules of procedure where his experience with the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules at the Iran-US Claims Tribunal contributed to the adoption of the UNCITRAL Rules for the PCA with some amendments, a historic development where a dormant PCA soon turned to a very active institution and presently has 117 pending cases before it.
Since his resignation from the Tribunal in 2009, he has been appointed by counsel for foreign claimants as legal expert on various issues of international business law and Iranian law in a number of major arbitration cases, one of which was a bilateral investment treaty dispute. He has been appointed as legal expert, sole arbitrator, counsel or legal consultant in various ICC, IDFC-LCIA and ad hoc arbitration or litigation cases.
