Posted by Worldwide Association of Notable Alumni on March 4th, 2016.

John Paloni is passionate about helping business and business leaders use Information Technology and Smart Business Processes to enable their people to work smarter and faster, and to provide ever-improving value to their customers.

John’s more than 30 years’ experience has shown that organizations become stronger if people can think, create and solve problems together.  This collaboration results in greater productivity hence John strongly believes that a well aligned, strongly supported team of people, working with clear goals closely tied to the business’ goals is an essential ingredient to achieving valued outcomes.

In his extended time in the Information Technology Industry John has helped transform sections, divisions and large organizations through the direct and successful application of both digital technology and business process transformation approaches.

John has successfully transformed large complex manual systems to online digital systems.  He has designed and implemented complex collaborative systems which eliminated paper waste, decreased time to market and increased productivity.  In more recent times, he has assisted large organizations with their move to Business-to-Business (B2B) and Business-to-Consumer (B2C) based solutions.

As Microsoft Australia’s Engagement and Program Manager, John has bought his in-depth and broad experience in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) to the many large public sector and private sector organizations with which he has proudly engaged. At Microsoft, he has worked in a wide variety of posts, including as Resource Manager, Enterprise Strategy Consultant, and System Engineer.  Prior to Microsoft, he served in several management and supervisory roles at Wang Australia, managing projects involving government bodies such as Parliament and the country’s Defence Department.

John began his ICT career as a computer operator with NASA while still studying at the University of Canberra.  The primary mission while with NASA was that of supporting the Skylab mission from the Honeysuckle Creek tracking station.  He was next a programmer with the Australian Capital Territory Totalisator Agency Board, where he helped develop the real-time Telebet System – in the IBM’s Assembler, here he wrote he also design, coded and implemented a debugger. Continuing to create software at the Australian Department of Veterans Affairs, he began assuming much more explicitly managerial responsibilities while with ActewAGL as a Project Leader and, later, Technical Services and Operations Manager, and then also with CSRIO as a Finance Systems Manager.

Aside from his work, John is most passionate about his family and his hobbies, which include V-8 super-car racing, cycling, soccer, architecture, learning French and reading science fiction.
