For the past eight years, Dr. Diane Murphy as been elevating Marymount University's Information Technology and Cybersecurity Department as its Chair. Between the different programs she manages, Diane is responsible for the education of about two hundred undergraduates and one hundred graduate students. Diane's success at Marymount has propelled their Cybersecurity Master's Degree program into national rankings, according to U.S. News & World Report in 2015. She is currently developing a doctorate program in cybersecurity. Diane has built a program that combines the technical knowledge required to manage the business risks associated with cybersecurity and the management knowledge required to secure the organization at all levels of government and business.

Not only is Diane adept at the technical aspects of her career, but she is also a creative person, an entrepreneur and a talented problem solver. In addition to college courses, she also teaches summer camps in cybersecurity and mobile app development for high school students and safe use of internet and mobile apps to senior citizens on a volunteer basis.

Diane graduated from the University of Sheffield where she received a Ph.D. in Information Science. Before information technology, Diane started a career in pharmaceutical research. She is particularly proud of the work she did during this period with chemical informatics combining her knowledge in chemistry, library science, and information technology. And now that she has mastered information technology and cybersecurity, Diane is looking to the future and hopes to continue inspiring young people to work with technology, particularly females. Diane plans to continue her role as a mentor as a philanthropist and advocate for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education.
