Mr. Meng Kiat Derrick Tan is the Managing Director of Merlion Kids Group, an early childhood education company with a curriculum based on international standards offering franchise opportunities.  Advocating modern holistic approaches beyond simply stressing academics, Mr. Tan expects to continue growing the business by expanding into the non-profit sector; one successful strategy towards this long-term goal has been applying for government funding for the education of needy children.

Mr. Tan is well-suited to leading Merlion into such expansion, having started his career in corporate finance as a Financial Auditor at Moores Rowland before moving onto both Corporate Recovery and Audit duties with Arthur Andersen.  He then became the Group Financial Controller at LHi Technology Group, meeting the strictest international management standards, such as ISO 9000, during his tenure.  All the while, Mr. Tan would conduct periodic lectures at various universities, which eventually helped to set his career towards ever more educational concerns.

Mr. Tan holds a master’s degree from the University of Sydney in International and Comparative Education and is a member of the Association of Early Childhood Educators of Singapore.  Fluent in both English and Mandarin Chinese, Mr. Tan remains a Chartered Accountant in Singapore as well as England and Wales.
