Worldwide Association of Notable Alumni Recognizes Andrew Barty-King

Andrew Barty-King is Executive Assistant Manager of Food and Beverage at Sheraton Zhengzhou. With a natural passion and innate ability with the nuts and bolts of hospitality and front of the house, Andrew knows exactly how to balance management. His love of making people truly enjoy their total hotel experience is shown daily in his relations with his team and the public. As a teen, his first job was at the prestigious Savoy Hotel in London and the Lancaster Hotel in Paris.

 Andrew graduated from Ealing College in the United Kingdom with a diploma in Hotel Catering and Institutional Management. He then went to Bond University to gain another diploma in Hotel Catering and Business Studies. He has been in the Hotel Hospitality sector for nearly 30 years beginning as Manager of Prospect of the Whitby Hotel in the British West Indies. In 1989, Andrew worked with the Starwood Group as Guest Services Director at Sheraton Wentworth in Sydney, Australia, where he oversaw complete rooms renovation of over 400 rooms. He then went on to become EH of both the Sheraton Noosa Resort and the Sheraton Auckland Hotel where he catalyzed a major transformation of Housekeeping Operations and Renovations. He was Style Manager of the W Hotel in Sydney, maintaining all furnishings and fabrics in the hotel while he undertook projects to improve operational and financial performance involving housekeeping productivity and valet services.

Despite these highly valued positions under his belt, the highlight of Andrew’s career came when he began working in China and the Asia Pacific Region as Director of Rooms for many hotel renovations and pre-openings, including Westin Resort Guam, Westin Beijing Chaoyang, Le Meridien Qingdao and the Four Points by Sheraton Tai’an. He quickly rose to Executive Assistant Manager of the Four Points by Sheraton Tai’an and after took on his current role.

Andrew is a patron of the arts, museums, and music, and prides himself on being a food guru. He enjoys swimming in his spare time for fitness, and currently lives in China.
