The Worldwide Association of Notable Alumni Recognizes Jesse Wolf Corsi Henson
Jesse Henson is an accomplished Architect and Designer based in Phoenix, Arizona. As the Co-Founder of Oculus Studio, a pioneering firm that is bringing eco-responsive and responsible solutions for buildings and structures, he has more than 25 years of experience in the field.
Established in 2009 with his partner Lora, Oculus Studio looks holistically at design within context of not just form and function, but within the larger picture of energy, sustainability, engineering and longevity. This has led to ideal project outcomes and a body of work that demonstrates his painstaking attention to detail and a multidisciplinary and team approach. The firm offers building science methods and state of the art technology to help clients visualize their projects and the potential impact their structure can have on the environment.
In Jesse’s fourth year of university studies he lived in Rome to learn through direct observation the great and sublime art and architectural works of the western tradition, a formative experience that has greatly inspired his design and sensibility. After earning both a bachelor of Architecture and Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), he went on to work in small firms and large international design firms for ten years. Seeking to deeply dive into sustainable architecture and design he completed a graduate degree in Building Science from Arizona State University (ASU). Upon graduation Jesse went to work in the solar products and manufacturing industry for over five years before refocusing to include the practice of architecture and engineering.
Jesse credits his success to a lifelong commitment to finding the right balance between technical and design for each individual project, while relying on solutions that incorporate efficiency through modularity. By offering products and services that are uniquely together under one roof, he has tapped into a market need and demonstrates the wave of the future in architecture and building design.
He has lectured and given talks at the American Solar Energy Society, and is a national board member of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB). He is LEED Certified and co-chaired the Lecture Committee for the AIA Baltimore, Maryland chapter. He also served in the City of Scottsdale Green Building Association. Recognized industry wide, he has also written magazine articles for industry publications, such as the American Institute of Architects' Architect Magazine, Architect Record, and Solar Pro. Jesse has also given seminars on sustainable architecture as well as teaching graduate level courses with a focus on solar commercialization at ASU.
When he's not working, Jesse enjoys being in the outdoors and in the ocean, kayaking, hiking and spending time with his family.
