Biography

Dr. Alfredo Galvez Sinibaldi has been an active member of the Geological sector in Guatemala for over 20 years. He is a very accomplished and experienced Group Director in the mining industry as well as being a highly sought after University Professor and Department Chair. He is currently the General Manager of Goldcorp which is the 3rd largest mining organizations in the world. He is responsible for all government relations and legal issues involved with the corporation. Alfred started his career studying Chemistry completing a Bachelors Degree from The University of San Carlos in Guatemala. He then completed an MBA in from York University satellite campus in Central America. Alfred then completed his Doctorate degree from The University of Oklahoma in 1993 with a PHD in Geology. Alfred is a member of The College of Chemists of Guatemala and is part of The Geologists Association in Guatemala as well. Alfred has held many high level government positions including The General Director of The Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mining in Guatemala. He was also Operations Manager for Nichromet which is an oil company in Guatemala. Alfred also was General Manager for a major mining company. He was instrumental in the creation of the Deputy Ministry chair for Sustainable Development at the Ministry of Energy and Mines. Academically he is a faculty member of the Environmental Change and Sustainability Doctoral Program at the Engineering Post Graduate School at The University of San Carlos in Guatemala.
