Biography

Christian R.F. Weckx is an accomplished operations and project management executive and lawyer with over 25 years of experience in business operations consulting and analysis, P&L management; process optimization, and change management. For the past two months, he has served as Senior Vice President for WorleyParsons, a professional services consultancy and advisory focused on delivering projects and providing expertise in engineering, procurement and construction. In his new role, Christian has dual responsibility for global engineering for the company that has 25,000 people worldwide, and engineering consulting activities, looking after major clients and assignments in the region, as well as providing general management for their management consulting business. His role also has business development function and he is focused on further building the internal organization for WorleyParsons in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which represents the most strategic part of his regional management consulting. Christian graduated with a Master of Laws (cum laude) from University of Leuven (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven) and a Special License in Economic Law from ULB- Université Libre de Bruxelles in 1988. He also earned a Master of Business Management at VLEKHO Business School, Brussels in 1991. In addition, Christian completed an Executive Course in Managing Professional Services Firms at Stanford University Graduate School of Business in 2005, and two Senior Executive Management Programs at INSEAD, France, in 2003 and 2004. He speaks fluent English, Dutch and French, and some German. In his prior role, Christian served as Director of the Global KPMG Asset Management Competence Centre for KPMG – GAMCC where he was responsible major business deals in the physical assets management arena and in the process industry including for oil & gas, chemicals, and petrochemicals. Originally, after studying law, he started as a lawyer at the Brussels Bar and found it to be a lot of studying and paperwork, which wasn't so appealing. Since Christian wanted to work internationally and travel a lot, he ended up shifting to consulting roles with EY, KPMG, CPI and others, predominantly in Europe, some in Asia, and currently more in the Middle East. Going forward, his major ambition is to get his feet on the ground in the region, build up his private and professional network, and build up his life in that part of the world. Christian wants to network to connect with like-minded people who also like to work internationally, travel and do global business. The key to his success is being open-minded, flexible, and capable of working with people from different backgrounds and cultures. He also knows how to effectively listen to his clients in order to come up with the right way to approach decisions and projects. When he's not working, Christian enjoys cycling and going out for dinner, and is also involved with a Kiwanis Club for Kiwanis International.
