His areas of expertise include educational leadership, curriculum development and design, and staff development. In addition, he served as a Military Officer in the Army National Guard and in the U.S. Army. Joseph has an impressive educational background, completing his thesis for a Doctorate in Education K-12, and earning his Educational Leadership, Curriculum & Instruction Certification from Rowan University in 2003. He graduated with a Master's in Educational Psychology/Counseling & Rehabilitation Psychology from Columbia University/Teachers College in 1978 and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics from City College of New York and an Associate’s degree in Psychology and Liberal Arts from CUNY Hostos Community College, 1975. Joseph is a member of NAACP, the Democratic Club, and the Goldsboro Military Retirees Club. He is very active in politics and community organizations dedicated to helping children. Originally, Joseph worked for 26 years in various positions with the United States Postal Service culminating in his role as Postmaster. When he had the opportunity to retire early from that role, his wife told him he had too much education, and suggested he go into teaching, and his second career evolved from there. The key to Joseph's success has been his belief that he could do anything he wanted to, and getting back into education was important so that he could continue inspiring young people to do well. When he's not working, Joseph enjoys fishing, politics, and working with community organizations.
