Biography
Hsingyuan Tsao is Professor at Northeast Normal University and Museum Deputy Director at the Qinghai Art Museum/ Zhu Naizheng Museum. Hsingyuan holds a Ph.D. in History of Art from Stanford University, 1996. In her position with NENU, she teaches and advises PhD and MA students. She also speaks publicly at museums throughout the US, Europe, and Asia. Northeast Normal University is an institution of higher learning under the direct administration of the Ministry of Education, being selected as one of the universities given priority in construction in the 211 Project. The NENU's predecessor is the Northeast University. It was the first comprehensive university founded by the Communist Party in Northeast China in 1946. The school was renamed Northeast Normal University according to the development needs of national education in 1950. Located in Changchun city, NENU has 24,567 full-time students, including 14,365 undergraduates, 9,478 M.A. and Ph.D. students, and 724 foreign students.
